The events industry doesn’t just need innovation, it craves it. Our clients, both delegates and sponsors, demand new and interesting ways to engage with the stage content and each other. As the organisers, we live for the infinite feedback loop that steers how we serve our community.
A moment at AHIF 2016 really changed the way we think about this.
Soon after Marriott CEO Arne Sorenson stepped off stage, Bench Events Chairman, Jonathan Worsley, grabbed a nearby permanent marker invited him and others to sign our media wall. One signature led to another and eventually every speaker coming off stage was reaching for the pen. Here are a few select images that made our day and what we learned in the process.
1 – Even the biggest CEOs took part
One of the first executives to kick start signing the media wall was Marriott’s President and CEO, Arne Sorenson. We loved how even our most established industry players were up for trying something quirky.
2 – Our attendees are getting more socially savvy
3 – Participants loved to “claim” their company’s space on the media wall
Executives from major brands all gravitated to signing the area near their logos. Makes sense as the best executives know how to stay “on-brand”.

5 – It was a phenomenal way to get direct feedback as signatures turned into comments
